Pitot Tube
A Pitot tube is a device used to measure the fluid flow velocity in various applications. It operates based on the principle of measuring the difference between static pressure and dynamic pressure in a fluid, typically air or water.
Sauermann offers a comprehensive range of high-quality Pitot tubes designed in accordance with the NF ISO 3966 standard. When connected to a differential manometer—whether liquid column, needle, or electronic—these Pitot tubes accurately measure the dynamic pressure of moving fluids within pipes. This measurement facilitates the determination of fluid velocity in meters per second (m/s) and flow rate in cubic meters per hour (m³/h).
Applications
- Aircraft: Pitot tubes are mounted on airplanes to measure airspeed, which is critical for navigation.
- HVAC Systems: Used to measure air velocity in ventilation ducts.
- Industrial Processes: Used to monitor and control fluid flow rates in pipelines.
Types
- Type L Pitot Tube: Typically used for air velocity measurement in HVAC systems.
- Type S Pitot Tube: Suitable for measuring gas flow in ducts and stacks, commonly in environmental monitoring.
